Suburbs to the Country and now a Writer?

Updated: Mar 13, 2022

I thought for my first post I would let you get to know me a little better.

I grew up in a small sleepy suburb located south of Portland, Oregon. I loved being surrounded by trees, green and lots of rain. I was raised by my parents along with my five siblings in the same home my entire childhood.

Shortly after graduating high school I met my husband Stephen through an online dating site. Many phone calls, texts, emails and and dates in person we decided to tie the knot. As a parent I can't imagine my children getting married as young or quickly as I did, but I felt the Lord guided me to my husband.

Through the years of our marriage we lived in Utah, Oregon, and when my husband graduated we hauled our two young children with us to western Wyoming where we currently live.

Wyoming is very different than Oregon where I grew up. We have very little rain throughout the year and even less trees, but it has its own kind of beauty.

Over the last 15 years we had four wonderful children who I have been blessed with the opportunity to home school.

A little over a year ago we purchased our dream property with just under five acres. We love having the room to roam and have added several animals to our mini farm.

When I'm not teaching my children, I keep busy with several part time jobs.

I work part time as a kitchen aid at our local school. There I cook, clean, and serve meals to the children in our small town.

I also teach part time through Outschool. I teach a variety of classes from cupcake decorating, cleaning, and my favorite classes about the different farm animals we have.

A recent new adventure our family has started is selling freeze dried treats. We have had fun trying different candies and seeing which we like best freeze dried.

When I can squeeze in a little me time, I have found I really enjoy writing. As a child I always had a big imagination, as an adult that imagination has fueled my creativity in cake decorating, art work, a fun YouTube channel and more! Around a year ago I had a dream. The story of the dream was interesting to me and I imagined how the story would progress. Eventually, for fun I wrote it down, and it became a story!

It still feels strange calling myself an author, maybe once my story is actually published it will feel real...

So that is a little about me, my family and a tiny glimpse into our full life!
